* Merger with Mars, Inc. was compted in 2008
* The founder, William Wrigly Jr., originally started the business selling soap and offered free baking powder for the merchants for carrying his soap. When the baking powder was found to be more popular than the soap, he switched the business to selling baking powder and offering free chewing gums to merchant for carrying his baking powder. He entered into chewing gum business when the gum was more popular than the baking powder.
